In 1979, Mr. Kessler received his bachelor of arts degree, summa cum laude, from Ohio University and then his juris doctorate from University of Michigan Law School in 1982. Before opening his immigration law firmthe Law Office of Richard Kessler, P.C.in 1987, Mr. Kessler had been a staff attorney at the Michigan Migrant Legal Assistant Project since 1982.  Mr. Kessler is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the National Lawyers Guild Immigration Project, the director of the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan, and past chair of the Michigan Migrant Legal Assistance Project (MMLAP). Michigan Coalition for Immigrant Rights and Protection Incorporation, Participated in lawyers Human Rights delegation to El Salvador and Nicuragua during the 1980s and 1990s.
